Who we are: Resident Artists

Lisa Marie Rollins

Director, Dramaturg, Writer

Lisa Marie Rollins is is a director, dramaturg and writer. Most recently she co-directed Young Jean Lee’s The Shipment and will direct the regional premiere of Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm’s HOODED: Being Black for Dummies in March 2018. She is a 2017 Directors Lab West Fellow, a 2017 Sundance Theatre Lab Fellow (Director) and a recipient of multiple awards for her playwrighting, poetry and theater production work. She has been a writing fellow with San Francisco Writers Grotto, CALLALOO London, VONA Writing Workshop and Just Theater Play Lab and Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency. Currently, she is finishing her new manuscript of poems, Other Words for Grief for which she received the 2016 Mary Tanenbaum Literary Award from SF Foundation. Her regional directing and dramaturg work includes Crowded Fire Theater, Playwright Foundation, Playground at Berkeley Rep, San Francisco Playhouse, Custom Made Theatre, TheatreFirst, new plays by Lauren Gunderson, Geetha Reddy, Aimee Suzara, Idris Goodwin, Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm, Philana Omorotionmwan and collaborations with comedic artists W. Kamau Bell and Zahra Noorbakash. Lisa Marie is a Guest Artist Faculty at St Mary’s College in Theatre / Performing Arts. She holds graduate degrees from The Claremont Graduate University and University of California, Berkeley.
