Cat and Mouse (Sheep)Cat and Mouse (Sheep)
by Gregory Motton
directed by Kevin E. Humbert
played in March 2002 at The Next Stage in San Francisco.

While the events of the months after 9/11/01 have forced Americans to start to explore the dark side of our global influence, the British got there long before us. Gregory Motton's biting and Orwellian satire looks at what might really happen if wesucceeded in making the world safe for capitalism. This timely Ubu Roi for the new millennium offers a seething and uproarious look at immigration politics, poverty, Empire, and (as in every British comedy) buggering. With the wit of Ionesco, the antics of a clown show, and the bitter Cat and Mouse (Sheep)politics of Brecht, this short and pungent piece of absurdism will have you rolling in the aisles, right up to the minute you run out into the street to break all of Starbucks' windows.
