Associate Artists

Michael Dorado

Michael Dorado has been acting on Bay Area stages for the past seven years.  He trained at Studio ACT with Mike Carroll, Christopher Herrold, and Bruce Williams.  He is a Resident Artist with Bindlestiff Studio.  He has worked with AATC, APAture/Kearney Street Workshop, Bindlestiff Studio, Crowded Fire, Pacific Playback, and RubberMatchSeriez, among others.  Some of his favorite roles: Edouard in Erik Ehn's 'Maid (Crowded Fire), Cabing in Jeannie Barroga's Banyan (AATC), The Writer in Tennessee Williams' autobiographical play Vieux Carre (RubberMatchSeriez), and Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream (RubberMatchSeriez).  Michael starred in the award-winning short film, Silencio (Dir. Michael Arago), which played in film festivals across the country and nationally on PBS.  His voice can also be heard on Tagalog television voiceovers for DirecTV and Toyota.

Erin Gilley

Erin Gilley was previously the Managing Director of Crowded Fire. Crowded Fire credits include video design for We Are Not These Hands. Erin is also the founding Artistic Director of elastic future. elastic future directing credits include Abducted, Beautiful, The Unauthorized Autobiography of Kim Deal, and the short film Joiners. In addition to her work with elastic future, Erin has directed and acted for several other theater companies in the Bay area, including Last Planet Theatre, TheatreFIRST, Shotgun Players, Theatre in the Woods, and AlterTheatre. Erin is also an Artistic Associate of the Magic Theatre. Erin studied theater at Princeton University where she was awarded the Frances LeMoyne Page Award for directing. Rebecca Novick

Rebecca Novick is a theater director and dramaturg, with a focus on new, experimental work.  She was the founder of Crowded Fire Theater Company and served as its Artistic Director for ten years, during which time she produced twenty-three plays and directed fifteen including such highly successful world premieres as ‘Maid by Erik Ehn, One Big Lie by Liz Duffy Adams, and Juan Gelion Dances for the Sun by Dominic Orlando.  In the Bay Area she has also worked with Intersection for the Arts, the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, the Magic Theatre, the Aurora Theatre, the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, the Exit Theatre, Shotgun Players, Berkeley Opera, Playground, and Woman's Will. Her work was most recently seen at Theatre Emory’s Brave New Works Festival in Atlanta.  Her directing has been recognized with many awards including the SF Bay Guardian’s Goldie Award for Outstanding Local Artists and she was a finalist for the TCG/NEA Director Fellowship.  She has a BA in Theater from the University of Michigan and trained at the Royal Court Theatre with Ian Rickson.

Peggy Powell

Peggy considers it an honor to stage manage for Crowded Fire.  She has swept the stages for productions of 69Stories: One Pervert's Tale and No Good Deed, Slow Falling Bird, several of the Matchbox series shows, and co-stage managed Porcelain.

Michael Storm

Michael has been acting, directing and teaching throughout the Bay Area for the past 17 years. He is currently an Associate Artist with Crowded Fire and appeared most recently as Rick in our world premiere of Slow Falling Bird. Other acting credits include: Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Beauty and the Beast, Oedipus, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Two Gentlemen of Verona,); Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Missing Persons); California Shakespeare Festival (King Lear, Merchant of Venice, The Tempest, Two Gentlemen of Verona); Firenze Shakespeare (Macbeth); Napa Valley Repertory Theatre ( A Christmas Carol, Table Manners); San Jose Stage Company (Beauty Queen of Leenane, Inherit The Wind, Inspecting Carol, Lonesome West, Of Mice and Men, Treasure of the Sierra Madre); San Francisco Shakespeare Festival (Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream), among others. Michael has two degrees from the University of California at Irvine, one in Drama and one in Economics and he is a certified Actor/Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors. In addition to serving as the Education Director of the Actors’ Lab at San Jose Stage Company, he has also taught classes for American Conservatory Theatre, Berkeley Rep School of Theatre, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and at many Bay Area public schools.

Mei Ann Teo

Mei Ann Teo is a Singaporean director/performer now based in San Francisco. Directorial credits include: Waiting for Godot, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Good Woman of Setzuan, Our Town, Measure for Measure, The Misanthrope, Fiddler on the Roof, The Skin of Our Teeth, Twelfth Night, Porcelain (for Crowded Fire). She has trained as a performer with Anne Bogart, the SITI Company and the DAH Teater of Belgrade. An associate artist of Crowded Fire and Theatre of Yugen, she also serves as the Resident Artist at Pacific Union College where she teaches and directs drama.

Alan Quismorio

Alan Quismorio first performed with Crowded Fire in Trevor Allen's 49 Miles. Within a year, he joined the company and appeared in Naomi Wallace's Slaughter City and Liz Duffy Adams' One Big Lie. His other acting credits include A Language of Their Own with the Asian American Theatre Company, The Sweetest Hangover (& Other STDs) with Brava! For Women in the Arts, and the Shotgun Players' Troilus and Cressida. As Artistic Director of AlchemySF at the Jon Sims Center, he produced original works by Erin Blackwell and Joe Besecker and directed Dooley and Dark Matter, both by Berkeley-based playwright Harry Cronin. His production of Joe Jennison's A Beautiful Man won Best of Fringe in 2003. He previous other directorial credits include productions with the New Conservatory Theatre and the Asian American Theater Company. He has worked on projects with the Magic Theatre, Oakland Public Theatre, and Word for Word.
