Friends and Family,
Wow! It has been a whirlwind year of transitioning from being
a full time mom to working in theater again. Working with Crowded
Fire is incredibly rewarding even with the additional challenge
of finding the balance between the personal and professional.
As many of you know, my career in the arts has taken on many
different "personalities" over time, and I find myself
settling into the role of Managing Director with a renewed
connection to the larger artistic community and in particular
to this innovative company. I am revisiting old skill sets
and learning new, exciting ones which I find both intellectually
and personally stimulating.
Crowded Fire is ensemble driven and dedicated to supporting
the artists that make us their home. I love that even as an
administrative staff member I am also considered a part of
the artistic team. Unike in larger institutions, I feel directly
connected to what we produce on stage. Our focus is on newer,
more challenging, and often riskier works than what you come
across in many of the bigger theaters and I'm quite proud of
the work we accomplish especially given our limited resources.
I relish the opportunity to stretch my creative and administrative
muscles as we continue to try and take this theater company
to a new level. And the thing is, I don't think I could do
it anywhere else.
With Crowded Fire, I'm working with people that I know really
well and recognize that I am equally committed to being a
hands on mom. I'm given
a lot of flexibility to find the balance that works for me
and the support to make that happen. All the while making great
art.
Adopt me! By doing so, you support all of our projects next
year and help to put Crowded Fire in a financially healthy
position. That will really make my heart go pitter patter when
I take off on maternity leave! Not to mention, it will help
fund things like those financial planning seminars that I'd
love to attend. Not kidding. Stop laughing now. It's the new
me!
