I'm
a new Dad, and that's the role of a lifetime. Although my
life is in drastic transition, I find it impossible to let
my artistic endeavors go, even with my hellish commute to
my day job in the South Bay. I've been a sound guy for quite
awhile, an expertise I can use in the theater, but I'm also
a dedicated actor...a performer who enjoys process, digging
into the work, and learning about myself every step of the
way.
I want to tell you a little bit about the theater company that
is my artistic home. Crowded Fire is a collection of artists
producing and developing new work for the Bay Area. I've known
and worked with them for years, but joined the ensemble only
a few years back. Already the changes in the company are huge--we're
growing and the work is getting more ambitious and exciting.
This jives with my personal goals for my artistic self. I want
to act. I want to be a part of a creative, collaborative organization,
and I want to do sound design. But more importantly, it's how
I do those things that matter. Crowded Fire provides roles,
offers challenging work, and helps me learn more about theater.
We're taking some exciting turns, and it just keeps getting
better.
Through the CF Matchbox Reading Series, I recently performed
a role in a new play that had never been read aloud before.
I worked with a new director, I met a young, fresh playwright,
and shared the stage with some old CF friends. It was a mingling
of both the worlds I love...deep process and teamwork. The work
I get to participate in through this little indie theater company
is exactly where I want to be. My voice is heard, and I'm a
participant in the American new play scene.
Adopt me! Make a donation to the company, and it goes directly
to projects I'm working on next year. I guarantee you'll see
or hear my work in the theatre very soon and your cash helps
me get there.
