As
a founding member of Crowded Fire, I've witnessed all the
many stages of change since we started 10 years ago. Very
recently, I relocated to San Diego for grad school, and after
getting my masters in scenic design, I'm back in SF and still
an enthusiastic member of CF.
I honestly feel this company deserves
partial credit for my entrance into the UCSD masters program.
I was able to capitilize on my experiences with this little
indie theater to take the next big step in my career. And
now that I'm back, I find CF is making some big leaps of
it's own! We just closed the local hit, Anna Bella
Eema that I designed, and are well on our way to growing
nationally. As my individual career expands, so does CF,
and I don't think that's a coincidence.
My personal goals are to continue specializing
in design for new plays and to be an active member in new
play development as a designer and a consultant. This is
a discovery I made through the combination of the work I
did in grad school as well as the work available to me here
in the Bay Area through Crowded Fire. The company continues
to feed me artistically by providing ecclectic and complex
design opportunities, but also supports my endeavors in other
arenas, like Assistant Directing and Dramaturgy. It's rare
for designers to be invited to participate so intimately
in the rehearsal process, and CF has an open door policy
to all it's members. I love that.
Adopt
me! Make a donation to the company I've been
loyal to from the start, and the proceeds go directly to
shows I'm working on next year, including The Listener and My
Name is Vera Cupido.
