Crowded Fire is devoted to difficult art

Adopt an Artist
Jason Wong

Jason WongHey party people!

As most of you know I joined an ensemble theater company a while back. Crowded Fire has been a part of my life for some time now, and I'm writing to tell you about the comapany and my role as an ensemble artist.

Being a part of an ensemble means I have an artistic home within the company. A perfect example of how Crowded Fire works is our recent Matchbox Reading Series in which I performed two vastly different roles in two different plays. The first was an Erik Ehn piece. After I performed in CF's production of 'Maid by Erik, I became a fan of his writing. Knowing that I had expressed a desire to be a part of his work in the future,  I was assured a space in his cast when we worked with Erik again. The second reading I did for Matchbox was in Liz Duffy Adams' The Listener. These two roles challenged me in competely different ways. I was doing work that was poetic, visceral, and physical in Erik's piece, and more comic, endearing, and delicately realistic in Liz's. It was an intense 3 days!

The bottom line here is, this little indie company embraces my desire to stretch myself as an artist. Adopt me! By donating now, you are directly supporting my work.

As a Bay Area theater performer, Jason W. Wong has done a lot of things like play crazy for Shotgun Players' Quills and strip onstage for the New Conservatory Theatre, among other things. For Crowded Fire, he's dangled upside-down in 'Maid and pumped a few bullets into another guy in Porcelain. Jason earned his degree in fine art at the University of Westminster in London, England, concentrating on performance art as well as experimental film and video. After moving to San Francisco, he studied further at A.C.T. Proud to be a resident artist of Crowded Fire, Jason also enjoys working with other companies like Cutting Ball Theater and No Nude Men Productions.
