Crowded Fire is devoted to difficult art

Alycia Dymond

As one of the newest Crowded Fire ensemble members, this company already feels like an artistic home.  I had such a fantastic experience working with Crowded Fire on Anna Bella Eema, that when they asked to keep me on as the company stage manager, I said yes.

Since the local hit Anna Bella Eema I have also stage managed Crowded Fire's Matchbox Reading Series.  It was an incredible experience that I helped to  create, four readings of new plays, with all the authors in residence.  I've been so excited to work with Crowded Fire because they are constantly doing new and challenging work.  Crowded Fire's work demands an intelligent audience that is willing to think and feel, both things that I believe we are daily losing sight of more and more.  A company that dedicates itself to difficult art has turned into the perfect place for me to grow and gain experience.  Stage managing the upcoming Gone by Charles Mee has be an experiment in flexibility and openness for everyone involved, most of all me.

Crowded Fire is committed not only to its art, but also to its ensemble.  The connections I've made with other ensemble members and the experience I've gained with the company are invaluable.  Crowded Fire is committed to providing me with experiences internally, but also to helping me spread my wings.  They have helped my career greatly by acting as a principle references for some other Bay Area theatres.  Every day I am a step closer to the goals I've set for myself.  My "big dreams" include becoming an Equity Stage Manager, stage managing for Cirque du Soleil, and someday owning my own theater.

By adopting me and donating to Crowded Fire you help make these big dreams a reality.  You're supporting not only me in my own career, but an ensemble driven company that puts the passion back into theatre.

Alycia Dymond graduated last spring from San Francisco State University with a degree in Drama and emphasis in Technical Theatre. She has also worked with San Francisco SketchFest, C Venues at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the East Bay's Ragged Wing Ensemble. Her first production with Crowded Fire, Anna Bella Eema, went so well that the folks at Crowded Fire decided to keep her. Alycia enjoys note-taking and spread sheet-making.
